7 of the Best Places to Remote Work in Liverpool

7 of the Best Places to Remote Work in Liverpool

Remote-working has increased by nearly a quarter of a million over the past decade & by 2020, over half the UK workforce are expected to be working remotely.

At J&R, we take advantage of remote working. Why? It gives our team flexibility, it’s proven to improve colleague morale and sometimes, unexpected happenings prevent us from getting into the main office.  So it makes business sense that we utilise its benefits.

In light of this, with remote working growing to be just as popular as office-based working, we thought we would share our 7 of the best remote-working spots in Liverpool. We’ve taken food and coffee needs into consideration for this one as well as the need for Quiet spaces & the possibility of Networking. So we’ve got ya covered.

1. The Central Library

Located amongst a collection of historic buildings in the City Centre, this Grade ll listed Library is a supreme place to remote work. Firstly, being a Library means it’s a very quiet place to focus on getting your work done. As well as this, t offers multiple perches to sit with your coffee and get stuck in. It even caters for those who have forgotten their laptop (it happens)- by having 150 computers and iPads for you to use.

Needless to say, it would be a shame not to appreciate the beauty of its interior, as well. The library has been around since the 1800s so it hosts beautiful Victorian Architecture. It was refurbished and re-opened in 2013 and now hosts a stunning Atrium staircase that somehow makes sunlight into a work of art. Our spot of choice is the ‘Picton Reading Room’ which is sure to make you appreciate how pretty libraries can be. There are also meeting rooms should you need them.

For Bibliophiles, head over to the collections of rare books & archives housed in the Hornby Library and Oak Room for some serious Inspo. To complete your remote working experience, the Library bears the necessities of free Wi-Fi and a café to keep you fully stocked with hot food, cakes and coffee.

The coffee and food shop offers a relaxing, modern, arty interior with free Wi-Fi & plenty of comfy sofas and oak wood tables to get you ticking your to-do list.

Also, if you get hungry during your hustle, Leaf has some really good grub– including catering for our vegan and veggie business peeps. In addition, its location is just a few shops up from Central Station so perfect if you use public transport.

3. Filter and Fox, Duke Street

Located just off of Duke Street, Filter and Fox is the definition of cosy and quaint. The subheading under its sign even says so, ‘Cafe Bar & Hideout’. Filter and Fox is a small cafe so we’ll warn that you may want to go a bit early to nab your perfect perch but even so, there are plenty of seats around the bar if you don’t mind a non-cushioned chair. This joint also serves a range of food to tuck into so your cravings are covered. By the way, they do a really good hot chocolate. Concentration and chocolate- we think that’s a great remote-working combo.

We may as well also say that if by the end of the working day you really need a bit of something something, their cocktail menu is worth sampling.

This place is great for: Freelancers, casual meetings, getting through emails, creating content.

We do recommend Avenue HQ as it’s not only a great place for making connections and after-work events; it’s an impressive postcode for an affordable price. There is also a Café and Bar on site for your foodie needs.  Plus, the views are really beautiful as the office spaces overlook the docks.

5. DoES Liverpool, Kempston Street

DoEs Liverpool is an Independent Community driven Co-Working space. They have a real team ethic, even having a ‘Do-mocracy’ attitude (meaning don’t think too much, just do). Their remote-working plans start at £12 per day, but your first day is free if you bring cake. It’s true. However, if you want to rent a flexi-desk, meaning you can drop in whenever you like, plans start from £80pcm. The offices shout Modernity and you are sure to be surrounded with a lot of like-minded individuals, so it makes a great place to network as well.

If you’d like to try DoEs out, we recommend attending one of their Jelly Events. It’s a free hot desk for the day and they take place one Thursday every month.

Spread out over two floors, Tap & Still offers an array of places to sit, from plush sofas to large wooden work benches; making it a perfect choice if you have a remote-working partner with you.
